Gina Chavez

I’m a queer, Catholic, internationally-acclaimed Latinx pop artist who is redefining Latin music in Texas and beyond.
About the artist

I am a 2020 Latin Grammy nominee from Austin, Texas. My music tells the story of a queer Catholic uncovering their Latin roots through the sounds of the Americas. With more than 1.2 million views on my NPR Tiny Desk, and features on Colbert's Play At Home series and Brené Brown’s podcast, Unlocking Us, I am a woman coming into my power.

You have every right to take up space!

The artwork and original song I created for Life Unseen speak to my awakening as a powerful queer Latinx woman. I partnered with collage artist Broobs and Mexican producer Camilo Lara (Mexican Institute of Sound) to life “Pitaya Roja," the story of a true chingona.

It’s time to make unseen musicians seen.
