Marly Gallardo

I was born in Ecuador, live in both Brooklyn and Mexico city and I explore themes such as migration, nostalgia, and yearning.
About the artist

My art is informed by indigenous craftsmanship, featuring elements of ancestral folklore, spiritual botany, and historical connections to land. I explore storytelling through digital media, and utilize a sentimental palette and deep tonal variants as metaphors for the profound emotional interiority of my subjects.

My art is informed by ancestral folklore and connections to land.

I aim to achieve a dream-like experience with my artwork that will inspire a search for the surreal within the mundane. In LIFEWTR’s Life Unseen collaboration I created an homage to my heritage and created a narrative that invites viewers into a vibrant experience.

It’s time to make unseen artists seen.
